The University of Ilesa (UNILESA) has announced plans to hold its 2nd Distinguished Public Lecture Series, focusing on economic resilience and Nigeria’s fiscal challenges.
The lecture, themed “Accounting for Economic Resilience: Addressing Inflation, Fiscal Sustainability, Insecurity and Governance Challenges in Nigeria,” will take place next Tuesday at the institution.
A statement by the Senior Assistant Registrar (Corporate Services and Information Unit), Babatunde Fanawopo, explained that the lecture is designed to place financial accountability and responsible economic management at the centre of national development discourse, at a time when Nigeria is grappling with inflationary pressures and concerns over sustainable public finance.
According to the statement, the lecture will interrogate how sound fiscal policies, effective revenue management, disciplined public expenditure and transparent financial reporting can contribute to economic stability and recovery.
The keynote will be delivered by the 62nd President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime.
Chief Akinwande Ayinde Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa, will chair the occasion, while Governor Ademola Adeleke, Visitor to the University, will be the Special Guest of Honour.
