APC HoR candidate receives over 200 ADC defectors

Over 200 members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Iwo, Osun State

The defectors were led by the ADC former local government chairman in Iwo, Hon. Saheed Alaji Akinsola.

Hon. Akinsola, who previously served as Vice Chairman of Iwo Local Government under the APC before moving to the ADC, formally announced his return at a press conference held at DC Elementary School, Iwo.

The political homecoming, facilitated by Engr. Ademola Adedapo, the APC candidate for Ayedire/Iwo/OlaOluwa federal constituency, took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, in Iwo, Osun State.

The event attracted political associates, loyalists and supporters.

Shortly after the declaration, Engr. Adedapo led the returnees to the APC general meeting where they were received by party leaders.

The leaders described the return as timely and significant, noting that it underscores the spirit of reconciliation, unity and inclusion within the party.

Speaking at the reception, party stakeholders commended Engr. Adedapo for his role in facilitating the defection, saying his commitment to dialogue and grassroots engagement has continued to expand the APC’s base in Iwo.
