The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has inducted 43 new Medical Laboratory Science graduates of Fountain University, Osogbo.
Registrar of the Council, Dr. Donald Ofili, who inducted them at the 3rd oath-taking ceremony of the institution held on Saturday at the school auditorium, warned the inductees against evading their compulsory one-year internship programme.
Dr. Ofili, who was represented by Dr. Akinwale Akinlabi, said any attempt to cut corners or submit fictitious logbooks will not be tolerated by the Council.
“However, dear inductees, please remember that your next port of call is the internship programme, which you must complete successfully and obtain a full Practising License before attempting to enrol in the National Youth Service Corps,” he said.
“Failure to do so is quackery. MLSCN requires that you engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPDs) as a condition for license renewal and evidence of your dynamism in a rapidly advancing world of science,” he added.
He reminded the inductees that their conduct shall henceforth be guided and monitored by the Council to ensure the preservation of professional integrity and the protection of public health.
He also noted that laboratory science is the pillar upon which almost the entire healthcare system rests, describing the induction as a formal admission into the profession.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, said the programme has consistently recorded 100% success rate in professional examinations in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
She disclosed that the university has completed a dedicated Medical Laboratory Science Complex with four laboratory units of 100-student capacity each to strengthen practical training.
