The suspects were identified as Nurudeen Ademakinwa, popularly known as Igboya Aye-nuru, 30; Agboluaje Usman, 23; and Awoniran Toheeb, 20.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The incident, according to the police, occurred on October 3, 2026, when Ajayi and his friend were having their hair cut at a barbing salon in the Oja-Ale area of Ikire.
The statement said some hoodlums, allegedly led by Ademakinwa, attacked the two with dangerous weapons.
“Some hoodlums led by one Nurudeen Ademakinwa, a.k.a. Igboya Aye-nuru, and others who were armed with dangerous weapons attacked them and macheted the said Seun Ajayi to death,” the police said.
The complainant was said to have escaped and reported the incident at the Ikire Divisional Police Headquarters at about 7:30 p.m. on the same day.
The Command said intelligence-led operations subsequently led to the arrest of the three suspects.
Items recovered from them included an axe, two double-edged knives and three Android phones.
The police also alleged that Ademakinwa had sent threatening voice messages to some residents of Wasimi, warning them to vacate the town or face consequences.
The statement further alleged that the suspect was involved in the killing of two passers-by during an attack on police officers attached to the Ikire Division on August 24, 2026.
Ojelabi said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
