The Osun Waste Management Agency, OWMA, has sealed EloCare Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, over illegal dumping of medical waste.
The agency said the action violates the State Environmental Law and Public Health regulations guiding medical waste management and disposal.
The hospital was accused of dumping its medical waste at the median of the road at Igbona Junction in Olorunda Local Government Area.
According to Affairs TV, OWMA enforcement officers traced the waste dumped at the road median to the hospital after routine checks.
The officers were said to have discovered that the hospital had transported its medical waste to the location and disposed of it indiscriminately.
Upon visiting the hospital to assess its level of compliance, the enforcement team found that its management had ignored several government directives on proper waste disposal and was operating without adherence to the waste management policy.
The hospital was subsequently sealed by the enforcement officers of the agency.
