The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has said Governor Ademola Adeleke’s inclusion in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council will not guarantee victory for President Bola Tinubu in the state.
The party was reacting to the revised APC campaign list where Adeleke was named as Osun State Coordinator of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Presidential Campaign Council.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Wale Adebayo, the APM described the appointment as inconsequential to the APC’s electoral fortunes in Osun.
Adebayo said Osun remains a politically sophisticated state where voters are guided by performance and conscience, not by campaign council appointments.
He argued that the governor’s new role cannot sway the state’s voting pattern, which has remained competitive and unpredictable over the years.
According to him, opposition forces remain confident of victory despite Adeleke’s alignment with the APC campaign structure.
He expressed confidence that the party’s presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, would still win in Osun in the coming general election.
“His inclusion in the revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list does not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in Osun in the coming general election.
“Osun people are politically sophisticated and will vote based on their conscience, not on whose name appears on a campaign council list.
“The fact that Adeleke was named Osun State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council does not mean the APC will win Osun.
“We are confident that despite this appointment, our presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, will win Osun State in the general election,” Adebayo stated.
