A group, Osun Leadership Forum, has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demanding the removal of Senator Fadeyi Oluwole Olubiyi, popularly known as Ajagunla, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Osun Central in the 2027 election.
In a letter dated October 2, 2026, signed by its solicitor, Adewale Adegoke Esq. of Wale Adegoke & Partners (Motẹ́leọlá Chambers), the group alleged that Olubiyi’s emergence violated provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the PDP’s guidelines on membership and primary elections.
The petition centred on Olubiyi’s movement between the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), his participation in the APC primary, and his subsequent return to the PDP after the party had already conducted its senatorial primary and produced a candidate.
The group also cited the Supreme Court judgment in Appeal No. SC/CR/495/2026, INEC v. Zenith Labour Party, which it said affirmed statutory requirements on political party membership registers and eligibility to contest primaries.
According to the petitioners, Olubiyi was not a member of the PDP when its primary was held, his name was not in the membership register submitted to INEC, and the process through which he later emerged was not a fresh primary monitored by INEC as required by law.
Consequently, the group urged INEC to de-recognise Olubiyi as the PDP candidate for Osun Central and remove his name from its 2027 list of candidates.
