The Osun State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has congratulated the people of Osun and Nigerians at large on the 66th Independence Anniversary of the country.
In an Independence Day message jointly signed by its Chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi and Secretary, Hon. Kazeem Araoye, the council said October 1 remains a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers and the resilience of Nigerians.
IPAC noted that despite the economic and security challenges facing the country, the Nigerian spirit remains unbroken.
According to the council, it identifies with the pains of ordinary Nigerians, especially families struggling with the present economic realities, adding that the trying times will not last forever.
“We are confident that Nigeria’s future is bright and Osun’s future is brighter. With unity, patriotism and purposeful leadership, we will overcome our present challenges and build the state and nation of our dreams with prayers and determination,” the statement said.
The council also spoke on the political situation in Osun, reiterating its commitment to deepening democracy, peace and good governance.
It said it remains resolute in collaborating with the Osun State Government in the interest of the people while carrying out its role as a watchdog for democracy.
“We will continue to support policies and programmes that uplift the lives of our people and advance the development of our dear state. At the same time, we will not shy away from pointing out errors where necessary, offering constructive criticisms and credible alternatives in the spirit of true democracy,” IPAC stated.
IPAC stressed that government and opposition are partners in progress when the welfare of the people is the ultimate goal.
It urged Osun residents to remain law-abiding, hopeful and united, and to continue praying for the country and its leaders.
