The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Thursday, called on politicians, political parties and residents of Osun State to embrace peace and the Omoluabi values as preparations for the forthcoming governorship election intensify.
Speaking while receiving the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Alhaji Munirudeen Bayo Oyebamiji, and members of the party’s campaign council at his palace, the Ooni also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the progress recorded in the nation’s security architecture.
The monarch, cited the recent rescue of abducted students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State as evidence that federal security reforms are yielding results.
A statement by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, said the Ooni urged APC and other political party members to remain united, stressing that unity is the foundation for political success and sustainable development.
The monarch warned against violence, bloodshed and acts that could undermine Osun’s reputation for peaceful coexistence.
He urged politicians and supporters to conduct themselves with maturity before, during and after the election.
