The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, over the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
In a statement signed by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Oluremi Omowaiye, on Saturday, Oyebamiji said the “safe return of the abductees after a gruelling 56-day ordeal in captivity marked a monumental triumph for the nation’s security architecture.”
He specifically commended Tinubu’s “refusal to concede to criminal demands, combined with his decision to approve 1,000 forest guards to reinforce regional safety, underscores a decisive commitment to securing citizens and residents of Nigeria.”
The statement further read, “We extend our highest commendations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering political will and strategic directive in deploying a specialised security unit to resolve the crisis.
“We also commend the National Security Adviser, Minister of Defence and other Security Chiefs. Our heartiest accolades go to the gallant officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies.
“Their flawlessly coordinated, intelligence-driven operation not only brought our children and teachers home without collateral damage, but also successfully neutralised multiple terrorists and led to the strategic arrest of some abductors.”
He also condoled the families of the victims of the abduction, particularly the family of the late Mr Oyedokun, who was murdered during the abduction.
“However, while celebrating this security milestone, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council expresses deep concern over the state of readiness and security architecture in Osun State under the current administration,” the statement further read.
