Education minister commissions project in Osun varsity, lauds President Tinubu

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to repositioning Nigeria’s institutions to produce the skilled workforce needed for the development of the country.

The Minister lauded the president on Friday during the commissioning of TetFund and Federal Appropriation budget-funded projects at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Osun State.

Alausa also said the Federal Ministry of Education has launched the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) aimed at systemic reform across basic, technical, vocational, teacher and tertiary education.

The commissioned projects included the Senate Building, University Library, ICT Centre, and the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University Health Centre, University Gate and Road, College of Medicine and University Electrification.

He added that President Tinubu has constantly emphasised the expansion of medical training institutions, improvement of clinical learning environments and the modernisation of the health sciences infrastructure.

He said, “The President has been unwavering in his commitment to repositioning our institutions to produce the skilled workforce needed for Nigeria’s technological, economic, and health-sector advancement.

“In support of this presidential mandate, the Federal Ministry of Education launched the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), our comprehensive blueprint for systemic reform across basic, technical, vocational, teacher, and tertiary education.

“Health sciences education is a crucial pillar of NESRI, and today’s commissioning exemplifies precisely the kind of infrastructure and academic strengthening that the Initiative seeks to scale nationwide.

“No country can grow beyond the quality of its health workforce. Medical education is not merely an academic discipline, it is a national security priority, an economic growth engine, and a measure of a nation’s civilisation.”
