Police arraign 35-year-old man over alleged Tecno theft

The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 35 year old man, Aremu Isiaka before an Osun Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo on Monday 21, May 2018 for alleged theft.

The accused person was faced with a two count charge to which he pleaded not guilty. It was gathered that Aremu Isiaka and others at large on the 19th of May 2018 around 1:05pm at Capital Hotel Area, Osogbo, under the Osogbo Magisterial District conspired together to commit felony therein to wit stealing and thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

It was also gathered that the accused person and others at large on the same day, time and place stole one Tecno 7C tablet handset valued N24,500 property of one Shittu Saheed Adeshina and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

The Defense Counsel, Mr Okobe Najite applied for bail in the most liberal terms stating that if the accused person is granted bail, he would provide credible sureties.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo did not oppose the bail but stated that he was ready for hearing as witnesses and exhibits were available. However, the Defense Counsel stated that he was not ready for hearing as he has to go to the State CID regarding the case.

The Magistrate, Mrs. O. A Oloyade, granted bail in the sum of N20,000 and one surety. She stated that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, provide three clear passport photographs, means of identification and his or her address must be verified by the Police. She also stated that the accused person must provide three clear passport photographs and meet with the bail terms or be remanded to prison. The case was however adjourned to June 7 for hearing.
