Pandemonium broke out in the early hours of Osogbo as men of the Nigerian Police force stormed the popular old garage park in commando style on Wednesday morning.
Commercial activities in the ever busy Old garage area was shut down as sporadic shots forced travellers to scamper for safety.
Some garage workers found in the park premises were beaten, rough handled, arrested and whisked away by policemen as some were seen fleeing inside the bush at the back of the park.
It was gathered by our correspondent that fight broke out at the park on Tuesday night that led to the intervention of policemen, where one of the garage boys was shot in the hand.
The eyewitness told our correspondent that the casualty was rushed to Lautech teaching hospital for treatment, but was denied treatment because there was no police report to the effect.
He further narrated that the garage boys brought the casualty back to old garage area which later led to the attack of policemen by the garage boys in protest.
One of the leaders and executive of the park popularly called ‘Ashiri Eniba’ called the O-Ambulance cadet to give first aid treatment.
Consequently the policemen with armoured personnel carrier, stormed the park earlier today to arrest the leader of the park popularly called ‘asiri eniba’ and some hoodlums found in the park.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Police hierarchy in the State has been unfruitful as at the time of filling this report.
