The Osun State Police Command has on Monday, the 16th of July, arraigned three persons before an Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, over alleged fraud of N6.3 million.
The three men; Hammed Adekola, 44, Kamilu Abayomi, 25, and Bakare Abibu, 22, were arrainged before the court by Police Prosecutor, Inspector Lamidi Razaki.
The Prosecutor told the court that the defendants conspired among themselves to defraud one Adeosun Funmilayo the sum of N6.3 million, with pretext to do a business transaction with her knowing to be false.
He further stated that the trio also used some spiritual powers on Funmilayo to collect her money without her consciousness.
He said the defendants collected the sum of N6.3 million from the complainant before they were arrested by the Police Intelligence units.
The prosecutor said the offense committed contravened sections 86(2) ,516, 419,383(390), and 381 punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun,2003.
The accused persons are facing five- count charge bothering on fraud, theft, attempt to kill and conspiracy.
The Defense Counsel, Mr Bola Ige, prayed the magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
However, The Magistrate, Mrs Module Awodele, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties each in the like sum. Awodele said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passports sized photographs, attached with an affidavit of means. She said one of the sureties must be a civil servant on GL15 ,while the other a close relative to the accused persons.
The case was later adjourned to August 27 for hearing.
