Olajengbesi alleges banishment of Accord supporter in Osun over political affiliation

The Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has alleged that a female supporter of the party, Ms. Adeola Adegoke, was banished from Ilase, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, over her political affiliation.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Olajengbesi claimed that Adegoke’s shop was looted and that she and her mother were summoned by community leaders.

According to him, they were ordered to vacate Ilase unless Adegoke agreed to work politically for Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Hon. Wole Oke.

He said Adegoke agreed to support Senator Fadahunsi but declined to campaign for Hon. Oke, after which she was allegedly told to leave the community.

Describing the incident as undemocratic, Olajengbesi said political differences should not be used to intimidate citizens or destroy their livelihoods.

“We must never use political power or influence to intimidate, punish or destroy the livelihood of any citizen because of political differences,” he wrote.

Olajengbesi, who is also the Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, called on Senator Fadahunsi and Hon. Oke to respond to the allegations, noting that their names were mentioned in connection with the incident.

“If these actions were taken without their knowledge or authority, they must immediately call those responsible to order,” he said.

He added that no Nigerian should be banished or denied a means of livelihood on account of political choice.

“Politics must never descend to this level,” he stated.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Fadahunsi and Hon. Oke had not responded to the allegations.
