Aregbesola tried, but Oyetola neglected Osogbo – Osun Budget Commissioner

The Osun State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Morufu Adeleke, has accused the immediate past administration of Mr Gboyega Oyetola of failing to accord Osogbo the status befitting a state capital.

Adeleke, an indigene of Osogbo, spoke on Western Television’s Morning Spring programme where he compared the performances of former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Oyetola with the current administration.

He commended the Aregbesola administration for its work in Osogbo, but said such projects should be regarded as the basic entitlement of the state capital and not the peak of development.

“The fact that he did what he did, which we quite appreciate, does not mean that is the totality of what Osogbo should have as the state capital. What Osogbo deserves as the state capital should continue,” he stated.

The Commissioner said there was a clear difference between what Aregbesola and the present government have done for Osogbo and what was obtainable under Oyetola.

“He actually did not treat Osogbo as a state capital as it deserved. You cannot compare what they have done to what former governor Gboyega Oyetola did,” he stated.

Adeleke expressed optimism that the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke will sustain and improve infrastructure development in Osogbo to meet the expectations of a state capital.
