The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro, former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adejare Bello and an aspirant for Osun West Senatorial District, Engr. Ademola Adedapo, have thrown their weight behind the renomination of Senator Ajibola Basiru as the National Secretary of the APC.
The trio, in a separate statement, said Basiru who was elected in August, 2023 at the 12th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the APC held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, has demonstrated leadership capacity.
Ajilesoro in a statement on Saturday, lauded Basiru’s exceptional ability to manage party affairs.
He noted that the former spokesperson of the Nigerian Senate has continued to galvanise the party through his role.
“Basiru brought stability and cohesion to the party and if there is another deserving of continuing in the office, it is our national secretary. His outstanding work is there for everyone to see.”
Bello who is the Governing Council chairman, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, described the APC national scribe as a man of principle who is dedicated to the growth of the party.
He said, “Basiru has done an outstanding job since he was first elected in 2023. Look at where our party was in 2023 and where we are today. Basiru and the other leaders of our party are doing a great work and we want that to continue.”
Echoing Ajilesoro and Bello’s position, Adedapo, described Basiru as a unifying force, adding that the APC had seen increased grassroots engagement with the Osogbo-born politician as the national secretary.
“His door is always open to party members. His renomination will ensure continuity and stability in the party going into the 2027 general elections which I believe our party will dominate,” Adedapo stated.
