Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, have condoled the family of late Chief Tunde Ponle over the passing of the Ada-born engineer.
The duo, in separate statements, described the death of Chief Ponle as painful, noting that his impactful leadership role will forever be remembered.
Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the late Chief Executive Officer of MicCom Cables and Wires lived a full life of accomplishments.
He said, “I’m visibly shaken to learn about the passing of Chief (Prince) Tunde Laoye. While alive, Prince Ponle was a model of a good citizen, contributing not just his intellect but his God-given ability to solve some of society’s challenges.
“Aside from the economic benefits that his multi-million MicCom-golf recreation centre drives for Ada, Prince Ponle’s generosity was felt at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), where his multi-million building and the MicCom Cancer Centre donations continue to serve the institution. His passing, though at 94 years, is devastating, and this is because Osun has lost one of its best.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Osun State, I express my heartfelt condolences to Her Excellency, Chief Mrs Titi Laoye-Ponle, children, family and everyone touched by the passing of Prince Ponle.”
Also, Mr Oyetola in a statement, said the family of the deceased should take solace in the fact that the late Ada-born engineer lived a fulfilled life.
Oyetola pointed out that the people of Osun will continue to remember the late engineering guru because of his impactful leadership roles in community growth.
The Minister therefore offered prayers for the widow, Chief Mrs Grace Titilayo Ponnle, and the entire family, asking God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
