FG supports two Osun hospitals with oxygen plants

The Federal Government has installed Oxygen Pressure Swing Adsorption plants in two Osun State government-owned hospitals in Osogbo and Iwo.

The government also donated medical equipment to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, and the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ila Orangun.

This was disclosed by the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, Dr Temitope Ilori, during the inauguration of the Global Fund-Supported Oxygen and Health Products Investments at the Osun Government Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, on Thursday.

Ilori said the move was part of efforts to strengthen the country’s oxygen ecosystem.

She also noted that the donation was part of a global fund-supported initiative to enable the state to provide affordable, accessible, dependable, and equitable medical-grade oxygen therapy services.

According to her, the items donated by the Federal Government through NACA to the Osun State Hospitals Management Board include “seven flow splitters, 30 oxygen regulators, 100 oxygen flow meters, 100 humidifiers, 33 nasal cannulas (paediatric), 16 nasal cannulas (neonates), and 345 nasal cannulas (adult).”

On donations to federal teaching hospitals in the state, Ilori said: “At the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ila Orangun: 50 large oxygen cylinders, 70 small oxygen cylinders, 12 hand-held pulse oximeters, 90 large oxygen cylinders, 135 small oxygen cylinders, 4 table-top pulse oximeters, 72 hand-held pulse oximeters, 30 oxygen concentrators, 30 UPS for oxygen concentrators, 30 oxygen analyzers were donated.

“At OAUTHC: one oxygen regulator, one max O2 ME oxygen analyser, 30 foam packings, 20 adult finger sensor/patient monitors, 20 paediatric finger sensor patient monitors, 15 multi-reusable pulse monitors, 20 hand-held pulse oximeters, two oxygen sensors, and 15 rainbow sets were donated.”
