Adeleke, Babayemi condole family, Osun APC over Famodun’s death

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has commiserated with the opposition, All Progressive Congress (APC), over the death of the immediate past chairman of the party, Adegboyega Famodun.

osun.life reports that Oba Famodun who was the 30th Owa of Igbajoland, died on Friday after a brief illness.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor prayed to God to grant the family and the opposition the strength to bear the loss.

The governor recalled the late politician’s long years of association with the Adeleke family while he was in the United States of America, describing him as a politician of note who contributed his own quota to the political development of Osun State.

He also extended his condolences to the people of Igbajo town and the opposition even as he calls for prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

“On behalf of the government and people of Osun state, I condole with the family of our late brother, Adegboyega Famodun.

“Our late brother was a close family friend. We mourn his sudden death. We join the family in this grieving period. I pray his soul rest in perfect peace”, the governor was quoted as saying.

Similarly, a gubernatorial contender for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Dotun Babayemi, has also expressed sadness over the death of Oba Famodun.

In his condolence message to the family, friends and the Igbajo community, Babayemi said, “The news of the death of Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun is very shocking and sad. It’s a great loss to the Igbajo Community, the APC and the entire state. He played his part well and contributed immensely to the development of Osun. No doubt, Oba Famodun will be sorely missed.”

The governorship hopeful stressed the deceased’s contributions to the traditional institution and the country’s polity.

Babayemi prayed for the repose of the late monarch and former local government chairman.

“We should all strive to uphold his legacy and continue to walk in the path that will always refresh our memories about his wonderful and worthy deeds” he added.
