Osun NSCDC arrests three contractors for allegedly stealing TCN power equipment

The Osun State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has confirmed the arrest of three suspects who allegedly vandalised and stole power transmission equipment belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Osogbo Substation.

The suspects whose names were given as – Adigwe(52), Bomi (39), and Seyi (42) (m), according to a statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, were working for a contracting firm engaged by Transmission Company of Nigeria.

The statement noted that the suspects were apprehended on November 01, 2025, while dismantling three (3) DS contact 132KV isolators kept in a container designated for storing tools and materials at the substation.

Adeleke further explained that a discreet investigation confirmed that five out of eighteen DS contact isolators were dismantled by the suspects.

The statement noted that Adigwe, a supervisor with the contracting firms admitted that his team tampered with the DS contacts without proper authorization from the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Osogbo substation.

Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, said the suspects carried out an unauthorized interference with critical national infrastructure.

He stated further that all three suspects were found in possession of three (3) of the eighteen (18) DS contact isolators.

The Osun NSCDC boss said the suspects will be charged in court after completion of investigation.
