World Food Day: Adedapo calls for increased FG support in Osun

By Tunde Olamilekan

A House of Representatives aspirant for Ayedire, Iwo, OlaOluwa federal constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Ademola Adedapo has urged the federal government to increase its support for farmers in Osun State.

Adedapo made the appeal in a statement to mark the 2025 World Food Day.

He noted that if the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) could assist with land already prepared for cultivation, it would motivate a lot of people to go to the farm and contribute to the food sustainability index.

The Iwo-born politician who decried the little or no investment in agriculture from the state government said empowering farmers in Osun with inputs and modern family technologies would ensure food security in the state and Nigeria.

Adedapo, while commending President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its efforts in tackling food insecurity in Nigeria, said farmers in Osun need unwavering support from the federal government to redouble their efforts in food production.

He urged the federal government to provide subsidies and implement policies to help the farmers achieve food security.

He said, “I appreciate President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing Agriculture in his Renewed Hope Agenda. However, I want to appeal to the federal government to do more for farmers to ensure sufficient food.

“Farmers in Osun need modern inputs and technologies to assist them in farming, and I want to urge the federal government to implement policies that help farmers in achieving food security.

“Getting a farmland and clearing is one of the most difficult stages in the life of a farmer. However, if NALDA can come in and assist people with land already prepared for cultivation, it will motivate a lot of people to go to the farm and contribute to our food sustainability index.”
