Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade is reportedly close to completing a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with the French giants having agreed a deal for the Nigeria forward that would see her join compatriot Jennifer Echegini at the club.
The 25-year-old winger has been a free agent since leaving Atlético Madrid in June and has attracted significant interest from clubs across Europe and the United States’ NWSL.
Reports from France suggest that only final formalities stand in the way of Ajibade’s switch to the French capital, with PSG eager to integrate her into their squad ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Ajibade would become the second Nigerian in the PSG women’s team, linking up with midfielder Echegini as the club continues to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competition.
The move comes on the back of an outstanding summer for the explosive winger, who captained Nigeria to their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
Ajibade’s performances in the tournament were exemplary, registering two assists, a goal, and earning three Player of the Match awards whilst leading from the front as captain.
Her exceptional displays earned her the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award and a place in the Team of the Tournament, capping a campaign that showcased both her leadership qualities and attacking prowess.
Known for her blistering pace and tireless work rate, Ajibade had been courted by several NWSL clubs in the United States, but PSG appear to have won the race for her signature.
The potential signing represents a significant coup for PSG as they look to challenge for major honours both domestically and in European competition.
Ajibade is expected to complete the formalities of her move in the coming days, bringing to an end her brief spell as a free agent following her departure from the Spanish capital.
Her arrival in Paris would mark another milestone in what has been a stellar 2025 for the Super Falcons skipper, who continues to enhance her reputation as one of Africa’s premier footballing talents.
