By Joseph Akanbi

In a bid to further cement the existing cordiality between Oke-Ijetu community and Kunike International School, the management of the school has embarked on distribution of relief materials to Oke-Ijetu communities as part of their efforts to cushion the lockdown effects of COVID-19.

The materials which were distributed within the premises of the school include rice, beans and garri.

The proprietress of the school, Mrs Olanike Adekunle, in her remarks said the effort is meant to assist the people in cushioning the effect of lockdown within Oke-Ijetu community where the school is located.

She said “We are aware of the fact that the lockdown has denied members of the community the opportunity to go about their normal daily activities, thereby negatively affecting their means of livelihood.

“The gesture of the school which we hope will go a long way is to assist our people during this period. This is also a practical example of what the school teaches, one of the graduate requirements of the school is for our students to engage in community service.”

“Our gesture is also in line with biblical injunctions to help the needy during period like this, the pandemic.

In his remarks, Chief Agboola Rasheed, a community leader who spoke on behalf of the whole community thanked the school for the kind gesture.

Rasheed said the gesture of the school will benefit over 200 households spanning 21 communities that make up the Oke-Ijetu landmass.
