The Member representing Ede North, Ede South Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency in the National Assembly, Bamidele Salam has urged people of the federal constituency not to panic as a result of the discovery of fresh cases of the coronavirus in Ede and Ejigbo local Governments of Osun State.
In a release issued this evening, Representative Salam said rather than go into a panic mode, the people of Ede, Ejigbo and other towns in the state should cooperate with health officials in the tracing of those who might have had contact with any of the new cases in order to ensure isolation and testing.
The member of the National Assembly reminded the people that being infected with the coronavirus is not a death sentence if quickly diagnosed and professionally managed.
He also advised the people of the towns and communities in the Federal constituency to continue to observe the lockdown ordered by the State government and practice the constant hand washing protocol laid down by the World Health Organisation to prevent further spread of the COVID-19.
Salam expressed optimism that the Federal, State and Local Governments will put in more measures to mitigate the negative effects of the lockdown on the socio-economic condition of the average citizen whose livelihood is dependent on daily income.
He added that the National Assembly will soon reconvene to push forward more economic bills and resolutions to empower the Federal government to spend more money on job creation as well as social intervention programmes for low income earners, the unemployed and other economically disadvantaged citizens.
