Cabinet List: Orolu group laments marginalization, says Oyetola should reward Sep 27 effort

By Joseph Akanbi

A Socio-political group, G83, in Orolu local government area has appealed to Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to address the marginalization of the LGA on the recently announced State Cabinet list, saying the leadership should reward the LGA for its effort in making sure Governor Oyetola triumphed in the September 27 rerun election in the LGA.

The group lamented that the people of Orolu have been marginalized and totally sidelined in the area of political appointments by the state governor and some political leaders in the last 20years.

This as contained in a release issued and signed by the G83 Publicity Secretary Mr. Alao Waheed, a copy which was made available to osun.life in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the group, “Despite the efforts and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) especially during elections and the rerun election that brings about the APC-led government in Osun, the government and the party did not even deem it fit to appoint one of Orolu indigenes into the government”.

It will be recalled that Orolu played a pivotal role when the gubernatorial elections in Osun was declared inconclusive, Orolu had three out of seven polling units where rerun elections were conducted to determine the winner.

G83 therefore urged the people’s governor of Osun, Alh Gboyega Oyetola and the party leadership, Prince Adegboyega Famoodun to correct the political imbalance in order to ensure justice, equity and fairness to the people of Orolu because “to whom much is given, much is also expected”.

The group while lamenting, saying that it is not fair and far from being just for Orolu not to have gotten any meaningful political appointments in the last 20years. Orolu had no political appointments during governor Chief Bisi Akande’s administration; nothing during governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration and in the cabinet list which was just signed by the governor and taken to the State House of Assembly, Orolu slot or indigene is no where to be found.

This is absolutely saddened and very unfortunate that the whole Orolu local government with the total population of about 250,000 with well read sons and daughters that are doing very well, actively involved in politics can be without a single representative in the state government.

Orolu is part of Osun and the records of election results are there as an evidence; and as a matter of fact, in 1999, 2007, 2011, 2014 and 2018 gubernatorial elections, Orolu had better results than some of the local governments that have given slots.

According to the group, “political records are there that ab initio Orolu people have always been supporting and winning elections for the progressive party”.

The people of Orolu therefore called on governor of the state of Osun, Alh Gboyega Oyetola, Prince Adegboyega Famoodun and all political leaders in the state to please address the issue political injustice accordingly so that our political efforts in Orolu local government will not be in vain.
