Osun APC welcomes new CP, seeks justice for political victims

The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has pledged full cooperation with the newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim D. Zungura, while demanding impartial policing in the state.

The party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, in a statement on Tuesday, said the APC is ready to partner with the police to rid Osun of criminals, especially those allegedly targeting APC members and supporters in the name of politics.

The APC urged the CP to carry out his constitutional duties “with the fear of Allah and in consonance with the dictates of the rule of law, fairness, honesty and integrity.”

It also demanded the investigation and prosecution of all persons in custody over killings, maiming and destruction of property of its members before, during and after the last governorship election.

“We are always available as a party to partner with you in your arduous task of ridding the state of criminals who have been brazenly perpetrating atrocities on the innocent inhabitants of the state, especially the members and supporters of our party,” the statement read.

The party further urged CP Zungura to “inject sanity into the security firmament in Osun State by continuing the arrest and prosecution of whoever is fugitive to justice, irrespective of his social standing or political leaning, without fear or favour.”
