Two admission seekers of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and a commercial motorcyclist were yesterday crushed to death by a luxurious bus in a ghastly motor accident along Ife-Ilesha express road, precisely at Moro Junction area of Ife North Local Government.
The OAU admission seekers and a commercial motorcyclist were said to be returning to Ife town after they sat for Post-UTME exercise of the institution at the Moro Campus of OAU.
Whiling giving account of the accident, Osun State General Manager of O-Ambulance, Dr. Olusegun Babatunde, said one passenger and a commercial motorcyclist lost their lives while the second passenger was said to have been rushed to Obafemi University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife where he was said to be receiving treatment.
An eye witness said the victims were crushed to death by a luxurious bus that allegedly drove against traffic rules and collided with the bike conveying the victims. The other passenger that was rushed to OAUTHC was said to have died at the hospital.
While confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Osun State, Folashade Odoro, said the commissioner of police in the state has ordered an investigation into the incident.
Some aggrieved motorcycle riders, road users and motorists who had set bonfires on the road immediately after the incident lamented the deplorable state of the road and the spate of accident on the spot.
The Public Relations Officer of OAU, Abiodun Olanrewaju while speaking with newsmen bemoaned the accident, he charged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and also sympathized with the family of the deceased.
