The present administration of Gboyega Oyetola has stated that the crucial role education plays in youth development is a critical component of its agenda to take the Osun State to the next level.
The Coordinating Director, Ministry of Empowerment and Youth Engagement, Dr. Olatunbosun Awoyemi established this fact during the Press briefing to mark the year 2019 International Youth Day.
Dr. Awoyemi stated that in line with this year’s theme which is “Transforming Education”, the government hoped to highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible to all the youth which aligns with Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goal.
According to him, “the vision is to realise their full potential. This includes functional education at all levels such that prepares people for work and fulfilment”.
He revealed that the state government has recorded many achievements in education, empowerment and engagements of the youth through Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) and Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO).
Youth related activities of the state government were highlighted which amongst others included, supervision of the activities of the NYSC scheme in the state, conduct of election into the State Youth Parliament and development and revision of the State Youth Policy.
