The Osun State Police Command has solicited for the cooperation of the residents and groups in the state to reduce crime and ensure the safety of lives and property.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Ige, stated this while receiving the leaders of the state command of the National Task Force in her office.
The Public Relations Officer, National Task Force, Tunji Adepoju, explained in a statement in Osogbo on Tuesday that the police boss also told the leaders of the group that she would engage them in further discussions on how they should operate in the state.
The statement said Ige commended the NTF’s commitment to ending security challenges facing the country.
“With a view to knowing how to support you, your bill has yet to be approved. So, your operations are still shrouded in uncertainty. When approved, then we shall be able to offer the necessary support on how to work together,” Ige was quoted as saying.
The Director, Osun State Command, NTF, Mrs Matilda Farinde, said the group was to complement the police in stopping the proliferation of small arms.
She also solicited the support of the police to enable the group carry out its mandate.
