The Osun State Police Community Relations Committee has concluded plans to hold a public lecture with a theme titled “Kidnapping and Banditry: Understanding the Twin Menace” as part of the committee’s Osun 2019 PCRC week in order to put a better perspective to the two most pronounced issues within Nigeria’s security architecture and challenges.
The Public lecture scheduled for 25th July, 2019, would hold at the expansive hall of, Aurora Conference and Events Centre, beside NNPC Mega Station, Ring road, Osogbo, the State capital.
While speaking with osun.life on the programme, Osun State Chairman of PCRC, Comrade Amitolu Shitu, who doubles as the co-host for the event, said the gathering is a platform to enlighten the citizens and general public on the strategies being used by kidnappers and those that engage in banditry with a view to ensuring that the residents of the state are kept abreast of those tactics so as to make use of it in their daily routine
Also, he said, a communique would be formed at the end of the event and sent to appropriate security quarters for implementation.
Expected guests and high profile individuals that would grace the occasion are Governor Gboyega Oyetola (Host), Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (MFR), Senator Representing Osun East Senatorial District, His Royal Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar, Dr. Faruk Abdullahi Mayaima, Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Captain (Rtd) Segun Fanu, Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command, Mrs. Abiodun Ige among others.
The Community Public Relation Committee was established to combat crimes through intelligence gathering on criminal activities within the neighbourhood as well as offering logistics assistance and encouraging qualified members of the community to seek for career in the Nigeria Police.
The committee is expected to actively participate in all Nigeria Police programmes that have direct bearing on community policing and shall render all assistance in the overall interest of safety and security of lives and properties. It is also to help in liaising with stakeholders for general police direction, guidance and assistance in order to provide quality service for a safe neighbourhood.
