The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 27-yr-old Oladejo Ayooluwa before a Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo today 2nd of July, 2019 for allegedly burgling into a neighbour’s flat who happens to be a professor at Osun State university.

The prosecutor Asp Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the offense was committed on the 15th of June 2019 at Onward area in Osogbo.

He stated that the accused allegedly broke in to Prof. Joseph Fawole’s residence to steal the cash sum of N210,000, an IPhone 6 valued at the sum of N140,000 and 2 spare keys of a Toyota Camry which is an offense contrary and punishable under section 411 of criminal code Cap 24 Vol 2 Law of Osun State, Nigeria.

The nominal complainant, Prof. Joseph Fawole while narrating the event told the court that he shared fence with the accused person for 3 months before his flat was burgled on the said date through the roof.

However, the defense counsel made it known to the court that his client’s flat was also burgled on the date the offense was committed which shows that his client is innocent and makes it obvious that the perpetrator(s) only used his client’s flat as a means of escape.

The defense counsel, Barr. M.A Atobatele therefore pleaded the court to grant bail to his client with the presumption of innocence as embedded in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria unless proved otherwise by the law court.

The Magistrate O.O Oladoke however granted the accused bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum .

The case was adjourned till 23rd of July, 2019 for further hearing.
