All roads lead to Erin-Osun, a land of brave warriors on the 14th – 16th of June as the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuf Adekunle Omoloye Oyagbodun (II) would be celebrating his 40 years coronation anniversary with glamour and style.
Oba Omoloye ascended the throne on the 16th of June, 1979 to become the sixth Elerin of Erin-Osun to have reigned. He was picked by his ruling house to mount the throne of his forefathers but instead of celebrating, he sneaked out of town but after much struggle, he accepted to be crowned king.
The monarch in his forty glorious years of reign noted that it has pleased the Almighty God, to have him hold the royal scepter of his ancestors, as king over his people.
In a press statement made available to osun.life by the Chairman Publicity Committee for the Anniversary, Mr Olusola Ajiboye, said many subjects agree that the four decades of Oba Omoloye’s reign have recorded monumental achievements in the town due to the matured and civilized way he has handled the tasking responsibilities placed on his shoulders.
“The monarch has been able to traverse the challenges of exercising royal authority and savour the joy of witnessing the progress of his people in four (4) decades of royal administration”.
“His humility and capacity for hard work, as well as his sense of accommodation to programme ideas have made Erin-Osun develop”.
Activities lined up for the three days event includes public presentation/ launching of a book and documentary titled: Erin-Moje, The Heritage of a Great Trek and also, Erin-Moje, a Fusion of Culture on Friday 14th of June. While the coronation and installation of Engr. Hassan Usman Alao and his wife Alhaja Malomo Eunice Alao as Asiwaju and Yeye Asiwaju will come up on Saturday 15th June.
The monarch and well-wishers will then proceed to St. Matthias Anglican Church, Erin-Osun on Sunday, 16th June by 10 am for Thanksgiving service.
Dignitaries expected to grace this special event includes the Executive governor of Osun State Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Dr Surajudeen Ajibola Bashir, Senator Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon Lasun Yusuf, outgone Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Engr. (Dr) Ayo Obilomo-FNSE, monarchs and top government officials.
