The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has denied setting up a parallel presidential campaign committee different from the one inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, on Wednesday, the APC said the only separate committee in place is the Parliamentary Campaign Committee for APC National and State Assembly candidates, with its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), as Director-General.
The party said nothing could have warranted a parallel presidential campaign committee when it is public knowledge that Governor Ademola Adeleke has been appointed State Coordinator of the President’s campaign and has offered to work with other parties to garner over 1.5 million votes for President Tinubu.
“We have said it times without number that we are grateful to Governor Adeleke for his demonstrated resolve to lead the campaign for our presidential candidate and that we are ready and willing as a party to work with him,” the statement read, adding that last Saturday’s event at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, was a testimony of its resolve to work with the governor.
The APC appealed to “agents of evil machination” to desist from trying to bring rancour, division and disunity to the rainbow coalition, which it said is yielding bountiful results.
“It is expedient to state that Asiwaju Oyebamiji remains the Director-General of our parliamentary campaign organisation and that he is as well jointly promoting the good works of our presidential candidate to garner as much as over 1.5 million votes for the President,” the party added.
