Insecurity: Adeleke seals deal with Chinese firm for drone surveillance in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke has sealed a partnership with a Shanghai-listed technology firm for the deployment of drones, radar and AI-powered surveillance across Osun State.

The deal was finalised on Monday at a meeting with top executives of Hefei Shengwen Information Technology Company Limited, led by its Director of International Operations, Mr. Cai Jianfei and Manager, Overseas Operations, Mr. Nemo Guo.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the project will involve the installation of a comprehensive security and intelligence platform with a central Command and Control Centre for real-time, 24/7 monitoring of Osun.

“The system will leverage AI-enabled cameras, drones, radar, robotics and Internet-of-Things devices spread across the state to gather intelligence and monitor events.

“It will cover schools, banks, industries, farms, mining sites, commercial centres, bus parks and motor garages across major towns and arteries of the state.

“A key component is a Safe-School Project and a decentralised mobile app for citizens, linking residents directly to the Command Centre for rapid emergency response,” the statement noted.

Governor Adeleke said the project builds on his administration’s State Security Trust Fund and marks a shift to technology-driven security.

“Our plan is to create an inclusive security platform that will fully secure and protect our people. From schools, hospitals, businesses and border communities, this initiative is a strategic option,” he said.
