An operative of Osun Amotekun who was among the suspects paraded by the Osun State Police Command over the murder of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ajagungbade Emir, has narrated his own account of the incident.
The suspect, Sijuade Moruf, who stated that he was stationed to the factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Nurudeen Alowonle, disclosed that he and others were invited to Ile-Ife by Alowonle on the day of the incident.
Speaking shortly after he was paraded on Monday at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo, Moruf said a driver was sent to pick them up for the meeting.
He said trouble started when they arrived at Mayfair Garage and could not locate Alowonle.
“I was stationed under Alowonle. On that day, he called us to come and meet him in Ile-Ife. He sent a driver to pick us,” he said.
“When we got to Mayfair Garage, we tried to call him to come out, but we did not see him. Instead, we saw some people who were armed with guns.”
According to him, gunshots were heard shortly after, forcing them to flee the scene.
“We had not yet seen Alowonle, whom we were expecting, when we started hearing gunshots. We told the driver to leave the place immediately, but out of shock, he crashed the car while trying to navigate out,” he explained.
Moruf added that he was already in another car when he heard that someone identified as Emir had been killed, insisting he had no hand in the killing.
“I was in another car when I heard that they had killed someone called Emir. I have never killed anyone before and I will not kill anyone in this lifetime,” he stated.
