Adeleke grants UNIOSUN VC, Adebooye two-year tenure extension

Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Prof. Clement Adebooye, by two years.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, in a statement, said Adeleke made the announcement on Monday at the Government House, Osogbo, during the inauguration of the university’s reconstituted Governing Council.

According to the statement, the Governor said the decision was taken in the best interest of the university to strengthen its governance structure, ensure continuity and avert any vacuum that could disrupt its administration.

He revealed that Adebooye had initially turned down the offer but later accepted it after further consultations.

The Governor described UNIOSUN as “one of the enduring investments of the people of Osun State,” stressing that the institution’s academic and research activities contribute significantly to the economic, social and intellectual development of the state and the country at large.

In his vote of thanks, Prof. Adebooye expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke, members of the State Executive Council and the newly inaugurated council.
