The Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Oke-Gada, Ede, Osun State, has successfully conducted its first emergency Caesarean Section (C-section), leading to the safe arrival of a 3.5-kilogram baby.
This operation was performed by Dr. Ashafa Musa along with his medical team.
Dr. Shina Igbalaye, the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board (OSPHCB), shared this news in a statement released on Saturday by the Board’s spokesperson, Mr. Ope Bello.
During his visit to the facility on Friday, Igbalaye noted that the mother had been receiving antenatal care at the PHC throughout her pregnancy and that she was initially expected to have a vaginal delivery until medical issues required an emergency surgery.
He praised the medical team for their professionalism and commitment, stating that this successful operation shows how primary healthcare facilities in the state are becoming better equipped to provide essential and life-saving services for mothers.
