The governorship candidate of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam, has vowed to revive the education welfare policies introduced during the administration of former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola if elected.
Salaam, a former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, at his party’s campaign held in Iwo on Monday, where he first paid Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and members of his traditional council a visit, expressed appreciation to former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, party leaders and supporters for their commitment to the party and development of Osun.
He outlined his plans to improve infrastructure, strengthen security and enhance youth welfare, with particular emphasis on the education sector.
He also urged eligible voters to come out on election day, educate others on the voting process and ballot paper, protect the integrity of their votes and reject vote-buying.
Former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola criticised his successor’s administration, alleging that it had failed to sustain the achievements of his own government, particularly in the education sector.
He claimed that infrastructure and student welfare initiatives, especially in Iwo, had deteriorated over the past eight years.
Aregbesola maintained that governance extends beyond physical infrastructure, saying true leadership is one that promotes peace, inspires confidence and improves the welfare of the people, especially the poor.
Meanwhile, he expressed confidence that an ADC-led administration would prioritise the restoration of education and people-centred development across Osun State.
