The contest for the Accord Party ticket for Ayedaade/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency has taken a new turn as Engr. Ayodeji Lukman Bello has laid claim to the nomination.
It would be recalled that Bello contested the party primary against the incumbent member representing the constituency, Hon. Lukman Mudashiru.
In a statement issued through his media office, Bello said he is in possession of a Certified True Copy, CTC, of the party’s nomination, which recognises him as the duly nominated candidate of the party.
He commended the Accord Party leadership at both national and state levels for what he described as a peaceful, transparent and successful primary election.
Bello also lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for ensuring a level playing field by adopting a direct primary process. He further appreciated officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Accord Party Electoral Committee for their professionalism and impartiality.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Certified True Copy of the party’s nomination recognises Engr. Ayodeji Lukman Bello, as the duly nominated Accord Party Candidate for the House of Representatives, AYIWOLA Federal Constituency,” the statement read.
However, the camp of Hon. Mudashiru has dismissed Bello’s claim, insisting that the incumbent lawmaker remains the sole candidate of the Accord Party for the constituency.
