Apata joins Accord after leaving APC

A former All Progressives Congress aspirant for Osun West Senatorial District, Mr Peter Ogundeji, popularly known as Apata, has joined the Accord Party.

It would be recalled that Ogundeji announced his resignation in a letter dated July 11, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 6, Ola, in Ejigbo Local Government Area.

He said the decision followed deep personal reflection and extensive consultations with his political associates and supporters.

But the APC, while reacting on Tuesday, through its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, described Apata’s exit as “one of our answered prayers” ahead of the August 15 poll.

Olabisi said membership of a political party is voluntary, and no one is coerced to stay.

“We have been praying that whoever will be a clog to the victory of our candidate at the poll, God should remove him, and that is what we are witnessing,” Olabisi stated.

Meanwhile, a photo circulating on social media on Friday showed the Ejigbo-born politician wearing an Accord Party fez cap.

Some media aides of Governor Ademola Adeleke also announced on social media that Apata has joined the ruling PDP in the state.
