Adeleke condemns Osogbo cult killing, orders Police crackdown

Governor Ademola Adeleke has condemned the recent suspected cult killing in Osogbo and directed security agencies to apprehend those responsible immediately.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the violence must not be allowed to further destabilise the state following recent incidents of political unrest.

“We receive with concern the recent suspected cult killing at Osogbo, and we call on security agencies to enforce the law and go after the culprits. The killing and the subsequent rampage are condemnable,” Adeleke said.

He added, “The incidents of cult violence at Osogbo should be curtailed immediately so as not to complicate the delicate security situation after recent political violence in the state. I call on security agencies to investigate and apprehend those involved in this dastardly act”.

The governor also distanced his administration from the incident, stressing that neither he nor the state government was involved in the killing.

The statement noted that the Accord party is still mourning several of its members allegedly killed by political thugs in recent weeks.

Adeleke urged members of the public to disregard fake news and propaganda, and called on security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to account.
