The Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has accused Ademola Adeleke, governor of the state, of inflating the cost of the Ede airport project to create a slush fund for vote buying ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The Director General of the campaign council, Oluwole Oke, in a statement on Wednesday, described the reported upward review of the airport project’s cost from N99.5 billion to about N130 billion as “scandalous and criminal”.
Oke also alleged that a substantial portion of the revised contract sum had already been paid to Sowie Tee Global Services Limited, despite claims that the level of work done on the project did not justify the disbursements.
He called on the state government to explain the basis for the contract variation and provide details of payments made to the contractor.
Oke said the reported cost of the airport exceeded the combined 2025 budgetary allocations to key sectors, including agriculture, health, education, youth development, women affairs, water resources and energy.
He noted that the development reinforces concerns over the state government’s refusal to publish its 2025 audited accounts and first-quarter 2026 budget implementation report.
He said the non-publication of the documents, contrary to the state’s Fiscal Responsibility Law, had denied citizens the opportunity to scrutinise government spending.
He also referenced allegations that the contractor has links to Deji Adeleke, the governor’s elder brother, and urged the state government to publish all financial records relating to the project.
“If the administration has nothing to hide, it should publish all relevant financial documents and provide a comprehensive breakdown of payments made on the airport project, the stage of execution, and the basis for the reported variation in contract cost,” the statement reads.
