Group to deploy sign language interpreters for Osun election

A disability inclusion group, The All-Right Foundation, TAFAfrica, has said it will deploy 25 sign language interpreters to polling units across Osun State for the August 15 gubernatorial election.

The group said the move is to support voters with hearing impairments.

The Programme Manager of the foundation, Dr Andrew Adaji, stated this on Wednesday during the Able2Vote Community Outreach for Persons with Disabilities in the Ikirun zone.

“We will be deploying 25 sign language interpreters to polling units where we have the deaf voters.

“This is our Continuous Voters Education, and we are here to talk with Persons with Disabilities on the need for them to come out during the election. They have the right to vote, and they should come out and vote,” Adaji said.

He noted that TAFAfrica has been engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on accessibility in polling units on the election day.
