The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on the Bureau of Social Services (BOSS), Akintunde Bello Sheriff, has accused the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, of playing divisive religious politics ahead of the August 15 election.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sheriff said Oyebamiji is not fit to occupy the office of governor because of what he described as the candidate’s “too divisive leaning on religion.”
The governor’s aide referenced a video in which Oyebamiji was allegedly heard promising to build a mosque, and another clip in which the APC candidate reportedly urged voters to support a “paradise candidate,” otherwise known as “Omo Aljanat.”
“If you promise a Mosque, should Christians, atheists, and traditional worshippers go stranded? I watched a video clip today where Muniru himself was saying that the people should vote for a paradise Candidate, i.e., Omo Aljanat? I instantly gave up on Muniru after watching the video,” Sheriff said.
He further condemned comments attributed to a MURIC associate who allegedly referenced Oyebamiji’s physical appearance as proof of being a practising Muslim.
“I wonder what manner of senseless campaign in the 21st century? Islam teaches tolerance and peaceful coexistence, but unfortunately, the APC Candidate is the direct opposite of these ideals,” he stated.
Sheriff also questioned Oyebamiji’s capacity and media engagement, saying the APC candidate has not meaningfully engaged intellectually and openly with journalists.
“He is even sluggish for the liking of an average person of wisdom. Governor Ademola Adeleke is way smarter than a Muniru. The office of the Governor can not be traded for a sluggish Man,” he added.
The aide said the Adeleke family has contributed significantly to Islam in the state, including building mosques and supporting humanity, but without making it a campaign tool.
“It is arrogance to assume you worship better. Only Allah knows the closet of every Individual. The Adelekes have done so much for Islam. They built many Mosques and touch humanity with their money, yet they don’t make a noise out of all these,” Sheriff said.
