The Alajue Community in Ede, Osun State, has called on government and private investors to support its capacity to produce palm oil for domestic and industrial use.
The Olu of Alajue, Oba Sulaimon Adebayo, who made the call, said that with the right support, the community could produce quality palm oil for local consumption and export to other countries.
Oba Adebayo noted that palm oil production is the major occupation of most residents, appealing for the siting of a cottage industry in the town that would add value to the commodity.
The royal father further disclosed that basic amenities needed for the industry to take off smoothly are already in place. He also lauded the peaceful coexistence among residents of the town.
“The residents of Alajue are deeply involved in farming and palm oil production, which can serve the whole of Osun State and other states if properly supported. Government and private investors should consider us for investment in large-scale palm oil production,” he said.
“We have the capacity to produce quality palm oil for local consumption, industrial use and for export to other countries. I want to call for government and private partnerships to enhance our capacity to produce this commodity.
“We are known across this state for our skills in quality palm oil production, and we are ready to produce more if we are supported. We are also calling for the establishment of a cottage industry that will add value to our palm oil.
“We can feel government efforts, but we still need better schools, hospitals, and an improved road network to enhance our development.”
