The Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, Bolaji Akinola, has responded to remarks made by singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Davido had in a post on his X account publicly criticised Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola on Tuesday.
But in a statement on Tuesday, Akinola criticised Davido over his comments, describing them as disrespectful and politically charged.
He further accused the singer of undermining Yoruba cultural values, insisting that respect for elders should not be abandoned in political discussions.
“In Yoruba culture, respect for elders is not optional; it is a fundamental value,” he added.
Akinola defended Oyetola’s record, contrasting his tenure with what he described as the failures of the opposition in the state.
“Unlike those addicted to social media drama and attention-seeking outbursts, Oyetola’s record of service speaks loudly for him,” he said.
