Mixed reactions have trailed the entry of Femi Oyetola, the son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, into the Osun Central Senatorial District race.
It would be recalled that the friends and political allies of Femi Oyetola on Sunday presented the nomination and expression of interest forms for the Osun Central Senatorial District to him.
The forms were officially presented on Sunday in Osogbo by Kehinde Ayantunji, a former Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs and Social Mobilisation.
Ayantunji revealed that the group contributed a total of N20 million to secure the senatorial ticket, citing their strong belief in Oyetola’s leadership potential.
However, while some people laud the actions and describe Oyetola as a youth who would represent the people of Osun Central very well, others believe that the move suggests that the Minister might want to impose his son on the party.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Aaraji Empowerment Foundation, Engr Kehinde Raji, in his reaction to the news, said Osogbo should have the senatorial ticket.
Raji, in a Facebook post, noted that anybody who wants the support of his group must respect their terms.
It would be recalled that a former gubernatorial aspirant under the APC, Mr Kunle Adegoke, SAN, has shown interest in contesting the senatorial seat.
Also, the incumbent Senator representing Osun Central, Olubiyi Fadeyi, has bought his nomination form for a second term in office..
