A University Don has commended the Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola for correcting the administrative error in the earlier appointment of Director General for the Osun Amotekun corps.
Prof. Aderemi Ajala, a Professor of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Ibadan was reacting to news of the appointment of Brig Gen Isa Ademola (rtd.) and Brig Gen Bashir Abiodun Adewinmbi (rtd.) as Chairman Governing Board and Corps Commander of Osun Security Network Agency (Amotekun) respectively.
The appointment was made known at Tuesday’s plenary of the Osun State House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye. The Governor’s nomination of the duo of Aderibigbe and Adewinmbi, and his subsequent request for their confirmation by the State Assembly is pursuant to Sections 5(2) and 13(1) of the State of Osun Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps Establishment Law 2020.
In his remarks, Ajala said “Governor Oyetola should be commended for correcting the administrative error in the earlier appointment of the Director General of the corps. He has demonstrated the quality of a good leader for listening to the public opinion and not being arrogant and stubborn.”
“Despite the contrasted political space at moment in the state, which is very threatening, Governor Oyetola’s esteemed personality in governance is applauded. Oyetola talks less and shows more spirit of objectivity and goal winning. He looks gentle and serious on governance. He is less flamboyant and least cheered to songs and dancing away the substance and control of government’s programmes and policies. Oyetola is calm and less excited by mundane issues. He only needs to invent more innovative programmes and policies, which i believe within a short time, this will be possible.”
