Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, on Sunday declared the readiness of his administration to support ideas that could create employment opportunities for youths in the state.
The governor spoke through his deputy, Mr Gboyega Alabi, at the enthronement service for Rev. Rufus Oluwasegun, as the Bishop of Methodist Diocese of Imesi Ile, in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Oyetola expressed the commitment while responding to the admonition by the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Kanu, who urged the governor to sustain the payment of workers’ salaries in the state, stressing that the well-being of the people would always be given priority.
Oyetola said, “Our government will ensure the growth of businesses, encourage investors and provide employment for our youths.”
He congratulated the Methodist faithful in the new diocese and called for prayers for Osun state and Nigeria for peace and good governance.
Speaking earlier, the Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Kanu, commended the Osun State Government for the payment of workers’ salaries. He however pleaded for the payment of arrears of salaries owed workers in the state.
“I have been watching the government of Osun and I see they have started paying salaries to the workers. I commend them on that,” the cleric said.
